Sorta

I’m sorta

out of sorts

this morning,

sorting out what

I should sort

through first

or get to second

or second next.

There are, after all,

so many has-beens

and wanna-bes

among the bins

in my closets,

so many beings

unworn and hardly loved.

It’s sorta hard to toss them

or even sort them,

sorta hard to sort

out one

from the other,

if ya know what I mean.

This single-lettered self

has been busy coning

on a contained glass plane

past sunsets that once seemed

much farther apart, It is the widening future

at the top,

funneling

into narrowing presents,

shining moments facet as they fall,

each catching the light and slowing

into the years of insects who cram

lifetimes between a single dawn and dusk.

My Trip to St. Simon’s Island, GA

For those who could not attend, the August Retreat and Conference was held at the Sea Palms Resort on beautiful St. Simon’s Island just off the coast of Georgia.

At the southern tip of the historic island is a village with a beautiful park and a spectacular lighthouse.
